Early this year, K’S PATH signed a contract with the Kuwait Oil Company to launch a humane animal control program in the township of Ahmadi. The project was the first of its kind in Kuwait and is already proving to be a success. Staff and volunteers have already captured 250 of dogs from the area.
KOC has made a substantial financial commitment to tackling the problem of animal over-population in Ahmadi, investing over 14,000KD in the project. These much needed funds have been used to purchase some of the best and most humane trapping equipment in the world.

Last week, K’S PATH staff took delivery of 42 dog traps, 10 cat traps, animal carriers, specialized poles and nets which will be used for the program.

John Peaveler, Managing Director of K’S PATH says, “I have had several years of experience in capturing stray animals. I have done extensive research, studied many animal control programs from all over the world and as a result have found the best equipment available on the market. We want to make sure we use the most effective and very importantly, the most humane methods to trap these animals which have already endured so much hardship by the time we find them”.

K’S PATH continues to praise the commitment from KOC to the project.  John says, “The problem of stray animals all over Kuwait is increasing. KOC have addressed the issue in a very pragmatic and effective way. The previous method wasn’t working, and so management have made the right decision by approaching us for a solution.”

The problem is still a long way from being over, but staff and volunteers at K’S PATH in conjunction with KOC are working relentlessly to make sure it will be.
