K'S PATH relies on volunteers for everything from animal care to fundraising.  Our small and dedicated staff need your help to make a difference to the animals in Kuwait.  We can't do what we do without your support.  Below is a list of volunteer roles. VOLUNTEER ROLES

VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR

  • Enlist new volunteers
  • Manage volunteer database
  • Maintain the volunteer handbook
  • Provide an induction and training for new volunteers
  • Maintain regular communication with volunteers
  • Send regular news updates to volunteers
  • Arrange and chair regular volunteer meetings
  • Liaise with Managing Director about upcoming shelter projects that require volunteers
  • Hold bi-annual volunteer appreciation events
  • Reinforce volunteer efforts
  • Work within allocated annual budget
  • Report to Shelter Manager

Number of positions: 1

Commitment: From 10 hours per week

Training: Orientation and 1 day training


VOLUNTEER TRAINER

  • Conducting new volunteer training and induction
  • Liaise with Volunteer coordinator to schedule in training
  • Liaise with senior Shelter staff to keep up to date with new shelter procedures
  • Assist Volunteer coordinator where required
  • Report to Volunteer Coordinator

Number of positions: 2

Commitment: From 20 hours per month

Training: Orientation and 1 day training


AIDE

  • Assist visitors at the Shelter by providing information
  • Assist with animal care where required
  • Assist Shelter Manager as required
  • Report to Shelter Manager

Number of positions: 6

Commitment: From 12 hours per month

Training: Orientation and 1 day training

 

ADOPTION COUNSELOR

  • Assist visitors who are interested in adopting at Shelter
  • Explain procedure and answer questions to potential adopting families
  • Maintain the Adoption folder at the Shelter and the Royal Animal Hospital
  • Follow up with adoptive families within one month of adoption to get feedback and photos
  • Maintain the Adopted animals photo board
  • Report to Shelter Manager

Commitment: From 12 hours per month

Training: Orientation and 1 day training


CANINE EXCERCISER

  • Help canine residents obtain additional exercise, fresh air and human contact
  • Report to Shelter Manager

Number of positions: No limit

Commitment: From 6 hours per month

Training: Orientation and 1 day training


FELINE HELPER

  • Visit with the cats and kittens to  help socialize, care, comfort, pet, brush, or simply provide some “lap time”
  • Report to Shelter Manager

Number of positions: No limit

Commitment: From 6 hours per month

GROOMER

  • Bathe and brush the shelter animals to make them  more comfortable and more attractive to adopters
  • Report to Shelter Manager

Number of positions: 4

Commitment: From 6 hours per month

TRAINER

  • Provide dogs with basic obedience skills to help them become better canine citizens
  • Report to Shelter Manager

SHELTER DONATION COORDINATOR

  • To coordinate donated goods from the public
  • Maintain a stock take of items
  • Keep donation area neat and tidy
  • Record what items are required
  • Report to Shelter Manager

ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT

  • Assist with general clerical duties to include but not limited to: photocopying, faxing, mailing, and filing
  • Assist Executive Director, Shelter manager, Volunteer Coordinator and Volunteer Trainer as required
  • Report to Executive Director

Commitment: From 12 hours per month

TRANSLATOR

  • Convert written material from English to Arabic and Arabic to English
  • Report to Administration Assistant

Commitment: From 10 hours per month

IT COORDINATOR

  • Update and maintain all IT equipment
  • Design and implement software and program including , but not limited to database, shelter management software
  • Maintain networks
  • Design and implement best IT practices
  • Report to Administration Assistant

Commitment: From 10 hours per month

Training: Orientation and 1 day training


FUNDRAISING AND EVENTS MANAGER

  • Identify and map new sources of charitable income
  • Maintain yearly events planner
  • Develop yearly fundraising plans
  • Hold regular meetings with fundraising committee
  • Ensure fundraising goals are met or exceeded
  • Work closely with the partnerships manager on maintaining the donor database
  • Organize fundraising events
  • Work within allocated annual events budget
  • Work closely with Partnerships Manager to maximize sponsorships of events and in-kind donations
  • Coordinate and manage Event Assistants
  • Report to Executive Director

Number of positions: 1

Commitment: From 10 hours per week

PARTNERSHIPS MANAGER

  • Maintain accurate records of all corporate partners and sponsors
  • Maintain good, long lasting relationships with sponsors
  • Send timely thank you gifts and messages as appropriate
  • Maintain use of logo on website based on levels of sponsorship or contribution
  • Maintain regular contact and send regular updates
  • Liaise with Communications/PR/Press Manager officer to ensure adequate coverage for sponsors based on their contribution
  • Work closely with Fundraising and Events Manager to maximize sponsorships of events and in-kind donations
  • Report to Executive Director

Commitment: From 10 hours per week

IN-KIND DONATIONS COORDINATORS

  • Identify and make contact with companies, businesses and individuals who can contribute  in-kind donations – including, but not limited to raffle prizes, equipment and services required for events etc.
  • Send timely thank you gifts and messages as appropriate
  • Maintain relationship with donors
  • Liaise with Communications/PR/Press Manager officer to ensure adequate coverage for sponsors based on their contribution
  • Maintain use of logo on website based on levels of sponsorship or contribution
  • Report to Partnerships Manager

Number of positions: 3

Commitment: From 20 hours per month

Training: Orientation and 1 day training


FUNDRAISING AND EVENTS ASSISTANTS

  • Work closely with Fundraising and Events manager on fundraising and planning events
  • Volunteer with the preparations for fundraising events and on the day of the event in roles such as, but not limited to
  1. Sending out materials  as needed
  2. Helping to publicize events
  3. Meet and greet guests and participants
  4. Health and Safety officer
  5. Food and Beverage coordinator
  • Work within allocated annual events budget
  • Report to Fundraising and Events Manager

Number of positions: No limit

Commitment: From 20 hours per month

COMMUNICATIONS / PR / PRESS MANAGER

  • Write and circulate regular press releases to local and international press
  • Respond to queries from journalists and other media personnel
  • Maintain a strong relationship with journalists, editors, bloggers
  • Monitor press coverage and maintain an on-line press archive
  • Maintain media centre on website
  • Report to Executive Director

WEBSITE MAINTANENCE MANAGER

  • Maintain two websites – kspath.org and animalfriendskuwait.org
  • Upload new stories and photos as required
  • Update ‘Animals up for Adoption’ pages
  • Ensure all information on sites are accurate and  up to date
  • Work closely with Executive Director, Fundraising manager, Partnerships manager and Volunteer coordinator to post new information as required
  • Report to Communications/PR/Press Manager and Shelter Manager

MONTHLY NEWSLETTER MANAGER

  • Work closely with Executive Director, Fundraising manager, Partnerships manager and Volunteer coordinator to write new stories for regular newsletters
  • Send out monthly newsletters to email database
  • Add names to newsletter database
  • Report to Communications/PR/Press Manager

SOCIAL NETWORKING COORDINATOR

  • Maintain Social networking groups, pages etc, including, but not limited to Facebook, Twitter etc.
  • Identify new opportunities for promoting K’S PATH through social networking
  • Maintain a regular presence on Social networking sites
  • Report to Communications/PR/Press Manager

SCHOOL AND EDUCATION OUTREACH COORDINATOR

  • Maintain regular contact with local schools, teachers and principals
  • Arrange school visits to Shelter
  • Arrange educational presentations and visits to schools
  • Educate students about animal care and welfare , pet over-population and other specific animal related topics
  • Educate on K’S PATH environmental work and initiatives
  • Maintain PR and Education kits
  • Report to Executive Director

Number of positions: 2 positions

Commitment: From 20 hours per month

Training: Orientation and 1 day training

COMMUNITY OUTREACH COORDINATOR

  • Create and implement a regional outreach strategy
  • Secure K’S PATH’s presence at local events such as exhibitions, bazaars etc.
  • Creatively thinking of ways to campaign new audiences
  • Use a range of on and offline tools to share good practice and create sense of community/network through the local and expat communities
  • Educate the public about animal care and welfare , pet over-population and other specific animal related topics
  • Educate on K’S PATH environmental work and initiatives
  • Maintain PR and Bazaar/Retail kits
  • Report to Executive Director
